Boris Johnson has written to Angela Rayner to insist that “misogynistic” claims about her conduct at Prime Minister’s Questions were not in his name amid backlash over the “smear” against her.
MPs on both sides of the Commons on Sunday condemned the claims, reportedly made by a Tory MP, that Ms Rayner had crossed and uncrossed her legs on the Labour front bench in an attempt to distract Mr Johnson.
