Swiss police and mountain rescue halted their search efforts earlier this year after they 'exhausted every option'
The solo hiker, who grew up in Longlands, Middlesbrough, lost contact on June 22 while he was hiking in the Grindelwald area of Switzerland - only two days before he was due to return to the UK. A search was launched by authorities, with friends and family issuing desperate pleas for his safe return.
Swiss police and mountain rescue halted their search efforts earlier this year after they "exhausted every option" without receiving any new evidence. In response, his 'extremely worried' family and friends launched a GoFundMe campaign in hopes that funds would generate new leads. Another added: "Sending love and deepest sympathy to you and all your family." Aidan's brother Connor said on Facebook: "We received the news last week that the police in Switzerland had found Aidan near the trail he was walking.
