The Metroparks announced Tuesday in a post on Facebook that the bobcat had been seen twice on wildlife cameras, on July 9 and Oct. 6.
Bobcats can weigh from 15 to 35 pounds and are known for their distinctive vocalizations. They can even purr, according to theBobcats are solitary, elusive animals that are active at night. They are rarely seen by humans, with only a few hundred sightings each year in Ohio.
Their diet includes insects, reptiles, amphibians, fish, birds and mammals, such as squirrels, rabbits or white-tailed deer. Statewide, bobcat sightings have increased steadily since the early 2000s, according to ODNR.
