A blind cat who had been shot with an air rifle is recovering after a rescue volunteer saved him from the streets.
The ginger cat, who is thought to be between six and 10 years old, was found in ‘very poor condition’ with an air gun pellet lodged in his shoulder. Helen said: “We were really full at the time he was found but we just couldn’t turn him away. Volunteers want to give Jasper the best chance at life but costs are mounting for the team. He has been neutered and had dental extractions to remove his rotten teeth after struggling to eat. Each specialist consultation has cost more than £200 and he was due to have an operation on Monday, June 19 to remove his eye which cost £1,300. Jasper has multiple problems with a cloudy cornea, cataracts and a detached retina, and has no sight or responsiveness in one eye.
The rescue had to make the difficult decision to close their non-profit shop, Clover’s Wish, as a result of rising rent and utilities costs and poor footfall in Accrington.
