Blackpool's B&B owners are being forced to slash their prices in order to stay afloat, despite rising outgoing such as food prices and energy bills. Some have cut room rates by as much as 30% to keep the phone ringing.
"Gill and I did Four in a Bed in 2019 and I was looking back at it. Our prices then were £85 for a double room for one night with bed and breakfast included. Now, we charge £60 for the same room. We've dropped our prices by £25 just to get people through the door. On St Chad's Road just around the corner, Andy Sutherland, who owns a B&B of his own says he's seen five of his neighbours shut up shop and sell up in the past 12 months.
