The Chicago Blackhawks won’t be making a playoff appearance this season, but the team is keeping spirits up on the ice.
It was the goaltending that doomed the Blackhawks on Sunday, but it had been the offense that was letting them down prior to that. The Blackhawks were shut out on Thursday for the second time in four games and eighth time this season, against the lowly Kraken of all teams.
"We can make all the excuses we want, but it's our job to play hockey and we've got to find a way to get amped up," he said."We're still playing in the best league in the world, so we should be excited to play every night and want to win games. It's a problem if we're not getting amped up and not ready for the game."
"That’s always the battle when you’re in this position, is to keep these guys focused and battling and competing and get the urgency back in their game," King said."They have to find that. I can’t teach it, I can’t get on the ice and help them and show them how to do it. They have to figure a way to do it. And if you don’t do it, you won’t play in this league long.
Nobody likes losing, whether it means something in the standings right now or not. It's harder to come to the rink every day when the losses keep piling up.
