Billionaires the Issa brothers are reportedly planning to purchase Subway in an £8 billion move
Brothers Mohsin, 51 and Zuber Issa, 50 are understood to be plotting to takeover the sandwich chain for £8 billion. A source told The Sun that Subway, which has 44,000 restaurants globally, could be an "ideal fit" for their EG Group empire.
At the time, the sandwich chain did not indicate how long the sales process might take or whether there were any interested parties. It also would not confirm if a sale would actually happen. Expanding quickly, the brothers opened their first petrol station in Bury after collaborating with the private equity firm TDR capital. As well as building on their petrol station empire, the billionaires have also purchased well-known chains including Asda and fast food business, Leon.
