Football Insider understands that Blackburn Rovers have submitted a loan offer to sign 20-year-old Hertha Berlin striker Derry Scherhant.
Championship duo Queens Park Rangers and Preston North End had also enquired about Scherhant’s availability, but Blackburn are looking to pip their rivals to his signature with a loan offer.Scherhant has made a strong start to the 2023/24 season, scoring three goals in his last four games for Hertha’s second team.
He made his breakthrough to the first team last season, making 10 Bundesliga appearances and scoring once in a 4-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach. Despite making occasional cameos with the first team last season, Scherhant is yet to appear for Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga this season. He was named on the bench for their DFB Pokal match earlier this month but has failed to make any other matchday squad for Hertha this season.
