A 16-year-old Black teenager was shot after he went to the wrong house to pick up his younger brothers. The high school student has been rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
According to his family, Yarl did not have his phone on him when he went to pick his siblings up. He was supposed to go to pick his brothers up at an address on Northeast 115th Terrace, but accidentally arrived at a home on Northeast 115th Street.
The result lead to widespread public outcry over the weekend, which have included protests and demonstrations in the streets of Kansas City. The police chief said that investigators were working throughout the weekend to compile the necessary information to present the case to the local prosecutor’s office for charges.
