McCarthy, who left her White House job in September 2022, served as Environmental Protection Agency administrator during the latter half of the Obama administration and was the top climate adviser to five Massachusetts governors, including now-Sen. Mitt Romney .McCarthy will join former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg, Gov. Jay Inslee , and Charlotte, North Carolina, Mayor Vi Lyles as co-chairpeople of the initiative, according to the Washington Post.
"I’ve been in government for 44 years, even though I don’t look a day over 35, and those 44 years taught me how government works at the local level, at the state level," she told Washington Post. "This is an opportunity for me to make sure we spread the word about what’s available and excite people about these opportunities."
