The president opened his message by calling the midterm elections a repudiation of what he has previously described as"mega-MAGA" politics."Last week’s elections demonstrated the strength and resilience of American democracy. There was a strong rejection of election deniers, political violence, and intimidation. There was an emphatic statement that, in America, the will of the people prevails," the president wrote.
The president also reiterated pledges he has made following the midterm elections to cooperate with Republicans wherever possible. "I congratulate Leader McCarthy on Republicans winning the House majority, and am ready to work with House Republicans to deliver results for working families," Biden said."In this election, voters spoke clearly about their concerns: the need to lower costs, protect the right to choose, and preserve our democracy.""As I said last week, the future is too promising to be trapped in political warfare.
Republicans picked up their 218th win to secure the House majority Wednesday as GOP Rep. Mike Garcia beat his Democratic rival in California. Overall, Democrats defied midterm history and projections by holding the Senate and nearly retaining power in the House despite high inflation and low approval ratings for Biden.
