Biden condemns Ukraine attack as Putin claims its retaliation for terrorism

Putin claimed Monday that the long-range missile strikes were in retaliation over for Ukraine destroying a portion of a bridge linking mainland Russia with occupied Crimea.Two of Russia's key allies, China and India, also issued statements reflecting concern about the attacks, though both stopped short of condemning Russia outright.
"These attacks only further reinforce our commitment to stand with the people of Ukraine for as long as it takes," the statement continued. Biden added that the U.S. will continue to "impose costs" on Russia and "hold Putin and Russia accountable for its " atrocities and war crimes."Putin claimed the Russian strikes targeted Ukrainian "energy, military command and communications facilities" but many of them appear to have landed near civilian targets.
