Prestigious travel experts Lonely Planet have unveiled the Best in Travel 2024 guide, and among the global destinations included is one beautiful Scottish region.
Lonely Planet has revealed its yearly list of the top travel destinations for the year ahead which features one area of Scotland.
The scenic area of the country, which includes counties such as Caithness and Sutherland, is one of only two UK locations to be included in the prestigious annual list. The other is the Wales Trails, which was named among the top 10 Best Sustainable destinations. Tourism Minister Richard Lochhead commented: "Scotland’s rich and diverse history, heritage, archaeology and natural beauty inspire and captivate millions of visitors to our shores every year.
VisitScotland Chair Lord Thurso added: "To have the Far North Scotland included as one of 50 destinations in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2024 list is a huge achievement. It shows that despite the challenges facing the industry, the world continues to recognise our distinct offering and the effort that goes into our renowned visitor experiences.
