The best alternative Christmas markets now that Leeds' has been cancelled
After news broke that Leeds had cancelled its famous German Christmas Market, many living in the city and beyond will surely be looking for alternatives - we know we are.
York Christmas Market If you are looking for a place to enjoy a Christmas market then you will enjoy York. Held from November 17 to December 23, there is plenty of time to visit the city and see the sights. Harrogate Christmas Market Located much closer to Leeds than the market in York, the Harrogate Christmas Fayre is a good choice for people from Leeds to visit. Opening on December 2 and remaining open until December 11, this market will be in place across Harrogate centre.Sheffield Christmas Market Slightly further afield, but easily accessible by train from Leeds or by car, the Sheffield Christmas Market will be open in the city from November 18. It will then be open throughout December.
The Otley Christmas Market is one of these, open on December 4 for one day. Known locally as the Victorian Fayre, residents dress up in Victorian clothing with plenty of stores getting involved.
