Broadway star Bernadette Peters pays tribute to Stephen Sondheim at the Tony Awards
The Broadway star, 74, starred in a number of Stephen Sondheim's musicals over the decades. She sang Children Will Listen from Sondheim's famous musical Into the Woods on the stage at Radio City Music Hall. Sondheim, who passed away last November at the age of 91, wrote the music and lyrics for a number of critically-acclaimed Broadway shows.
The New York City native wrote the lyrics for West Side Story and Gypsy early in his career, but later dedicated his career to writing both music and lyrics. Peters gave a stirring performance in honor of the recently deceased composer while wearing a glittering, strapless silver gown that accentuated her ample cleavage.
