Benjamin Mendy 'delighted' after being found not guilty of rape and 'looks forward to clearing his name' at retrial
Manchester City star Benjamin Mendy is 'delighted' to have been found not guilty of six counts of rape and 'looks forward to clearing his name' in relation to the allegations jurors were deadlocked on, his legal team said.
He was also cleared of one count of sexual assault against a fifth woman. But following a trial at Chester Crown Court which began in August, jurors failed to agree on a further count of rape and a charge of attempted rape, allegations which Mr Mendy also denies. The same woman had also accused Mr Mendy of rape. The French defender will face a retrial in June on the allegations jurors were unable to agree on.
