'Our parks must be open to everyone and nobody should be made to feel unsafe or uncomfortable'

SDLP West Belfast councillor Paul Doherty said families and young children have been "left distressed" by a number of incidents that have taken place recently.

They said: "After a short trial period of opening access between the Lenadoon Playground and Park, unfortunately we have had to close the gate again due to the issue of scramblers and motorbikes accessing the park. The safety of our park users is our key priority." "I have been working with both local residents and the police to increase monitoring of our local parks to dissuade people from taking part in this kind of activity.

"The vast majority of people visit our local parks and other green spaces with zero issues, but I would encourage parents to speak to their children and make sure they are not engaging in this kind of behaviour.
