The latest Man United takeover news including reports of a significant financial boost for bidder Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
After months of radio silence there finally seems to be some movement regarding a takeover of Manchester United - albeit supporters have been in this position before.
Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe remain in the running but have seen little progress in recent weeks, with the latter now thought to have altered his proposal in a bid to win over brothers Joel and Avram, who want to remain at the club. Earlier this week, David Beckham joined the growing list of former players calling for change.
Beckham was an ambassador for 2022 World Cup in Qatar and has links with the state via that previous role and from his playing career - which he also talked about in the revealing interview.The Athletic's David Ornstein insists there has been movement regarding the prolonged takeover process, supporting recent reports that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is now leading the race.
“We’re getting question after question on this," Ornstein wrote in his weekly Q&A on The Athletic. "I’m assured there has been movement and, contrary to reports that it going the way of Sheikh Jassim, I keep hearing that INEOS taking a minority stake and building from there remains more likely.
