Many viewers blasted the documentary, branding it ‘anti-Meghan media bias’ and ‘disgustingly one-sided’.
Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace and Clarence House also released a joint statement following the documentary, which read: ‘A free, responsible and open press is of vital importance to a healthy democracy.
‘However, too often it is overblown and unfounded claims from unnamed sources that are presented as facts and it is disappointing when anyone, including the BBC, gives them credibility.’The BBC revealed that it received complaints from viewers who believed the programme was disrespectful to the Royal family and therefore should not have been broadcast.
Addressing the complaints, a spokesperson for the corporation said: ‘The Princes and the Press explored the relationship between the media and the monarchy, focusing on the younger royals. The Royal family should take action over the BBC programme the princes and the press,the journalists interviewed were making degrading remarks about the duchess of Sussex and prince harry.
