A Bay Area man and one of his young sons have died after a Jeep crash at a hunting club.
Google Street ViewThe incident occurred on private property at the Happy Hills Hunting Club near Mohrhardt Ridge and Happy Hills Ranch roads in Cazadero. First responders were called to the club shortly before 6 p.m. Monday for reports of a Jeep overturned down a ravine. When they arrived, they found two Jeeps down a steep embankment. According to CHP, the second Jeep overturned into the 300-foot ravine trying to rescue the occupants of the first Jeep.
Due to the remote rural landscape, ATVs were used to reach the injured individuals. Five people were extracted from the vehicles. Matthew Sousa, 32, and his son Jason, 7, died from their injuries. The driver of the second Jeep, a 49-year-old man, was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the CHP. The two children in the second Jeep were also transported to Santa Rosa Memorial with moderate injuries that are not considered life-threatening.posted by the Sousa family, Matthew and Jason leave behind three members of their immediate family.
