Toney has finally broken his silence after his eight month ban from football

Ivan Toney has broken his silence about his betting ban from football, describing it as his 'lowest point' in an exclusive interview. The Brentford striker was the latest guest for the popular podcast Diary of a CEO hosted by entrepreneur Steven Bartlett.

Speaking to Steven, he said: “It comes down to the allegations on the betting scandal. Personally I feel like it was a bit of a questionable time when they decided to bring it all out and when they actually dealt with the situation come the end of the season. When Bartlett asked Toney if he believes the news was reported to prevent him from going to the World Cup, the 27-year-old agreed and said: ”I assume so, and to make it a bigger story, personally anyway.

Speaking on his mindset at the time while betting, he added: "You never think of the negatives, you always think of the positives and being on the money I was on, which I thought was a lot at the time, It was kind of like, 'it’s fine I’ll get it at the back end of the month.'"
