San Diego State will appear on CBS three times and Fox once in the updated Mountain West schedule but has three games moved from Saturday to Friday night
There are residual benefits from playing in college basketball’s national championship game, including some that don’t reveal themselves for a full six months.
Since the contact started in 2020-21, CBS has picked SDSU for both its mandated games. This season, CBS will show the Aztecs three times in January: UNLV at Viejas Arena on Jan. 6, at New Mexico on Jan. 13 and at Boise State on Jan. 20. Fox will air the Feb. 3 home game against Utah State at 12:30 p.m.
They’re 8-1 on CBS since 2022, with an eight-game winning streak snapped by Connecticut in the national championship game last April.All of SDSU’s other 14 conference games will be on linear TV as well, either CBS Sports Network or Fox Sports 1. Eight of the 12 nonconference games have been assigned broadcast information, and two that don’t — against Cal in San Juan Capistrano on Nov. 25 and at Gonzaga on Dec. 29 — are expected to shortly.
“We all know it’s not great on the fan base,” Dutcher said. “Saturday games are easier for the fans to get to. Our fans will come on Friday because they’re great fans. But I think for everybody’s convenience for getting to games, a Saturday game is better — not having to deal with Friday traffic and all that.
