San Diego State defensive leader expected to transfer to Cal, where he has one brother on the football coaching staff and another on the Bears track team
San Diego State’s defense added two players from the transfer portal last year who were able to join their brothers for one season on the field together.Starting safety Patrick McMorris, SDSU’s second-leading tackler last season and one of its team captains, plans to enter the transfer portal after it opens Saturday, according to a source familiar with the situation.McMorris already has a landing spot in mind.
A two-time all-Mountain West selection, McMorris started 26 of the SDSU’s 27 games the past two seasons. Sophomore Max Garrison and freshman Marcus Ratcliffe now figure at the vacant “Aztec” safety position.
