Audio engineer Axel Grell has created his first pair of true wireless earphones since leaving Sennheiser. The Grell TWS/1 is a high-performance earbud at a sensible price.
These new earbuds are beautifully made and have a minimalistic industrial design that’s in direct contrast with the complexity and richness of the acoustic performance and comfortable fit that the earbuds provide.
Alongside the ANC technology is something called High-efficiency Noise Reduction Technology . When the environment is noisy, the TWS/1 earbuds block out sound passively in the high-mid and high-frequency range. For the low and low-frequency range, the ANC function takes care of things. The Grell Noise Annoyance Reduction technology scans the noise spectrum and controls the ANC using a psycho-acoustic model to minimize annoyance. And it works.
The Grell TWS/1 include an advanced microphone array that has wind noise protection provided by something called multilayer turbulence eliminator MTE. This technology is designed to produce the best possible voice quality, even in windy conditions. And because the technology is built around a Qualcomm chipset, there’s also cVc 8.0 noise reduction for clearer phone and video calls.
To control the earbuds, Grell has used glass touch-field technology. These super-responsive controls respond to the lightest of finger presses to answer calls, adjust volume, or pause the music. Using the SoundID app, it’s even possible to reconfigure and customize the touch controls.... [+]Grell supplies the TWS/1 with a wide range of ear tips made from silicone as well as memory foam. The tips are available in a wide choice of sizes so the user can achieve the most effective acoustic seal.
