Avon Lake officials are set to present new renderings of its new 40-acre lakefront site, replacing a power plant that stood in the city for 100 years.
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Avon Lake Environmental Redevelopment Group, LLC and Avon Lake city officials held the first public meeting about the project to redevelop the area surrounding the old power plant on July 19.
“It’s a bittersweet thing right because I’m gonna watch that plant being demoed but looking at what could be kind of basically softens of the blow of that and I kind of get really excited about especially with the idea of them maybe preserving part of the plant,” Rogatto said.
“I too am concerned about overdeveloping, high rises, and adding a lot of traffic and noise pollution and all that comes with it,” added Richards., saying they should be getting jobs for the decommissioning of the plant. “Ohio labor built this plant,” said Chuck Brooky, Business Manager with Laborer’s Local 758. “We maintained this plant and suddenly were not good enough to tear it down which is extremely alarming, extremely angering.”“Not all of them,” said Scott Reschly Vice President of Operations at Charah Solutions. “Obviously, we’re not gonna get all of them from Ohio but we do our best to continue to bring as much help from the local area as possible.
