Fresh off East Bay expansion news, CreateMe Technologies Inc. is laying off almost all of its R&D employees in S.F.

A New York-based automated clothing production startup is laying off most of its Bay Area employees before it moves into a new 35,000-square-foot research and development lab in the East Bay next week.

Several employees referenced the layoffs on social media and another confirmed them to me with a message received from the company's health care provider. Employee benefits are set to expire at the end of this month and any commuter program and flexible spending account balances would be forfeited immediately, it said.

An employee told me that CreateMe's plans as of late November were to shutter the San Francisco lab in February 2023. They said the company backed this up with offers of additional commuter benefits and a retention bonus for employees to stay with the company through 2023.
