Chicago police are seeking help identifying a man who has impersonated an officer at least three times in recent weeks.
Chicago police sent out an alert Monday night about a police impersonator who is trying or has tried to gain access to residences, businesses and, in one instance, the Shedd Aquarium.
The man flashes a badge to attempt to enter establishments, police said, and he has a handgun. He says he is a police officer or sergeant and is dressed in Chicago police apparel, according to police.The impersonator is 5 feet to 5 feet, 5 inches tall and Black, weighs approximately 230 pounds and he is around 40-45 years old, police said.
The man tried to gain access to 10906 S. Wallace St. on the evening of Aug. 29. A few days later, he tried entering the Shedd Aquarium, 1200 S. Jean Baptiste Point DuSable Lake Shore Dr., on the evening of Sept. 1.His latest attempt occurred Monday morning when he tried entering 550 W. Roosevelt Rd. In the community alert, police warned residents of the 1st and 22nd districts to pay special attention to their surroundings and to call police with a description of any suspicious person or vehicle, including license plate information.
