A bomb threat at Dallas County’s criminal courts building was cleared about 11:45 a.m. Friday, the sheriff’s office said.
The Frank Crowley Courts Building on the western edge of downtown Dallas was evacuated shortly after 8 a.m. after a report of a bomb threat, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Jasmyn Carter said.Authorities urged the public to stay away and closed roads around the courthouse which houses adult criminal courts, the district attorney’s office, the public defender’s office and the probation office.
Courthouse employees who left their purses and car keys in their offices to evacuate were stranded outside for hours while dozens of law enforcement officers surrounded the building, State District Judge Jennifer Bennett said.
