The Aurora Police Department asks for the public's help in identifying suspects in the Christmas Eve shooting deaths of Katon Hutt and Nekeya 'Tiffany' Brown in a Boston Street home.
Detective Troy Raines, who is investigating the shooting along with other detectives, said the incident happened at about 12:30 a.m. Dec. 24. There were no reports called in of shots fired or any disturbance reported in the area, he said. The bodies were found about 10 hours later, after a call was made requesting a welfare check at the residence.
“The 10-hour time difference is huge,” Raines said. After two months, investigators have no eyewitnesses. On Monday, preceding the news conference, police released surveillance photographs of suspects who were wearing winter coats with hoods and winter face masks. The pair drove up to the residence in a dark-colored sedan, which was missing a hub cap on the front passenger tire.
So far, the suspects have not been identified. Aurora police hope that the news conference will generate interest and lead to tips. Police credited Goodrich with having the strength and courage to speak at the news conference. “A mother should not have to bury a child,” Acevedo said. “If you know something, come forward before the violence takes you.”
