Auburn’s inability to run Freeze’s RPOs effectively resulted in an uncertain on-field product and one of the program’s worst passing performances in recent history.
ADAM COLE The shortest answer of Hugh Freeze’s Monday press conference revolved around his program’s biggest question.
“We’ve got to figure out our identity,” Freeze said. “I know people don’t like to hear it. People want success now. They want you to win now, every single game. I get all of that. According to Freeze, Auburn didn’t throw a single RPO during its 27-10 defeat against Texas A&M over the weekend, which he said is “not something I’m happy about.”
“I probably am where I am today because I brought the RPO game to this conference, or one of the first, I think people would say,” Freeze said. “ … I don’t want to act like I created the RPO world or anything, but I do think I was one of the first to bring it to this game with tempo. We’ve gotten away from that, and I don’t really understand that.”
