According to the Auburn School District , a student answered a side door and let the group of five into the building on Oct. 16.

ASD Superintendent Dr. Alan Spicciati said the student who let the group in had no idea what was about to happen and thought they were being helpful. All six people in the group were wearing masks. The incident was spelled out in an email to parents. Spicciati said the incident is under investigation by the school and Auburn police. School officials said all five students who were assaulted are expected to make a full recovery.

"That is definitely something that is a concern of ours, and I want to be really transparent,” said Spicciati. “We cannot have gangs in our schools. Full stop."Four students were removed from campus as a result of the fights. But after school, the district said a few of those students came back to campus with a couple of non-students, and another fight broke out in the school parking lot. A BB gun was confiscated.

The superintendent said the 13 students identified have been put on "emergency removal,” which means they can't return to campus or attend any school events while the matter is being investigated.
