Colby Thomas of Mercer headlines the Day 2 group.
The A’s focused the second day of their 2022 draft mostly on college pitchers and outfielders as their draft class came into focus Monday.
“Long term, it’s something to keep an eye on but we don’t think it’s anything that will hold him back,” A’s scouting director Eric Kubota said of Thomas’ injury, adding that the organization has not spoken much with Thomas about the short-term outlook and whether he’ll be able to play any minor-league ball this summer.
The A’s then drafted three pitchers with their next five picks: West Virginia’s Jacob Watters , Indiana’s Jack Perkins and Texas A&M’s Micah Dallas .
