A year ago, Evaldas Siskevicius was so late finishing Paris-Roubaix that nearly everyone had gone home. Officials didn’t even record his time. This year, he did better than finish in a timely fashion. With the ride of his life, he landed in the top 10.
ROUBAIX, France—Evaldas Siskevicius had been stewing for a year when he returned to the most fiendish day in professional cycling. He was upset about the official results for Paris-Roubaix 2018. They listed him as “Did Not Finish.”
He might have been dead last, over an hour behind the winner. He might have been so late that he was technically disqualified. And he might have had to sneak into the velodrome here to cross the line before officials locked it up. But he did finish. That was important to him.
