Tampa Bay Rays' Jose Siri bats against the Houston Astros during the fifth inning of a baseball game Tuesday, April 25, 2023, in St. Petersburg, Fla. ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Astros managed to do something no other road team in baseball has done this season: Win at Tropicana Field.
More impressively, the Astros did it by shutting down the best offense in baseball. The Rays , who lead the majors in runs scored, batting average, home runs and OPS, were blanked by a combination of Luis Garcia, Phil Maton, Rafael Montero and Ryan Pressly. It was the first time the Rays have been shut out this season. That's two impressive starts in a row for Luis Garcia.
The only noticeable change to the naked eye is the fact that Garcia now is standing on the third-base side of the rubber.
