The Saskatchewan Roughriders have a few needs to fill during the 2023 CFL Draft.
With 2021 first-round pick Nelson Lokombo and the emergence of 2022 sixth-round pick Jayden Dalke, the Riders have options when it comes to finding a new starting safety after the team decided to not re-sign Mike Edem. Veterans Jordan Beaulieu, Godfrey Onyeka, along with sophomore Kosi Onyeka, could also be in the mix. But with the demands of special teams in the CFL, you can never have too many Canadian defensive backs so there will likely be a couple more defensive backs added on Tuesday.
Allen, Tommy Bringi and Justin Herdman-Reed, who can all contribute on special teams. Whether it’s a defensive back or a linebacker, O’Day will be looking to add some athletic Canadians to the roster.With Jamal Morrow and Frankie Hickson having a handle on the backfield, the contributions of Canadians here comes in the form of blocking and special teams. And the Riders have three veteran backs already in the mix with Kienan LaFrance as well as fullbacks Albert Awachie and Bruno LaBelle.
