Two local community support groups who joined forces late last year to become St Andrew’s Food and Clothing HubWhen the teams behind Penwortham Care and Share and Ashton Food Aid began working together from St Andrew’s Church Hall in Ashton, they saw the number of families being referred to them leap from a handful each week to over a dozen.
Fortunately, the residents of Penwortham and Preston have been keen to help with donations of food, good as new clothing, and blankets. For Penwortham Care and Share’s Lindsay Harrington, this has meant sourcing a new storage facility. Ruby Abram, who runs Ashton Food Aid, has turned her adult daughter’s bedroom into a store cupboard.The team is keen to help anyone referred to them by Social Services, the NHS, and local homeless charities, and are quick to respond to any request.
