The singer expressed a positive attitude heading into her first round of chemo, as well as gratitude for having treatment options. “I start chemo tomorrow. Seems like such a negative thing to say. Until I flip that doom feeling on its head and think, Wow, I’m thankful I have an illness that is VERY live with-able," Monroe wrote. "I’m thankful there IS a treatment that actually works to fight what is causing harm to my body.
Monroe feels good about her treatment plan after weighing “every option” with her “amazing” team of doctors at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. “I’ve done my research,” she said. Monroe also explicitly stated that her Instagram post is not an invitation for followers to offer their suggestions. “I would greatly appreciate if no one gave me any unsolicited advice or medical opinions,” she wrote. “That’s why I was hesitant to post about it,” Monroe explained, “but I could use the prayers.
Monroe shared she is grateful for her support system: The “friends and family who have gathered around me praying and sending flowers and letting me lean on them during this super weird chapter of my life.” And she added that she is thankful for “my angel son. Who I am fighting for the most.”
