Access to social services such as mental health counseling, housing support and sexual-assault care also decreased.
Data for 2022 is not yet available. The council warned in the October report that its homicide totals likely underestimate the number of intimate partner homicides in the state. AVDA's Colter noted that the economic pressures facing families only seem to be increasing since the pandemic. “All of us are experiencing inflation and things of that nature, but when you are in a home where there's poverty, loss of wages, loss of jobs, that tends to exacerbate the lethality of certain situations,” she said.
