Arrow star Katie Cassidy says she would be open to returning as Black Canary in future Arrowverse shows. 'I'd happily go on any of the other shows. I love those people. They're my family.'
Katie Cassidy has expressed an interest in returning to the Arrowverse. The actress had starred in the hit CW series Arrow for the majority of eight seasons, which was the beginning of a shared television universe of DC heroes leading to many spinoffs including The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow. Although Arrow ended its run back in January 2020, the world has continued to expand in its spinoffs leading to an open door of possibilities for Cassidy to return.
Cassidy played Laurel Lance, an attorney and love interest of Oliver Queen/The Green Arrow , who eventually became the superhero known as Black Canary. Although Cassidy's Lance was killed off back in season 4, she returned to play her Earth-Two doppelgänger, initially known as Black Siren, debuting on The Flash, who started as a villain but would later become an ally of The Green Arrow.
"Yeah, it's not to say she's gone. I'd happily go on any of the other shows. I love those people. They're my family. I have so much gratitude. But at some point…it's why they say good things don't last forever. You grow and evolve and move on. It's so amazing when I run into these people I consider my family at conventions. It almost feels like how the cast of Friends probably felt. That's how tight we were.
Along with Cassidy's Laurel Lance/Black Siren, Green Arrow & the Canaries was set to star Arrow regulars Katherine McNamara as Mia Smoak/Blackstar and Juliana Harkavy as Dinah Drake/Black Canary as they continue to defend Star City after the death of Oliver Queen. Since the airing of both that and the Arrow finale, Cassidy has not appeared on any other Arrowverse shows, despite her interest in returning.
Arrow had a great, long run and created something special with its large pantheon of characters and storylines adapted from DC Comics. The crossover events were what kept fans returning to the shows, from"Invasion!" to"Crisis on Infinite Earths." Although Cassidy has missed her Arrowverse family dearly, it's no surprise her declaring that everyone eventually moves on at some point. Thankfully, that doesn't mean Cassidy is completely done with the Arrowverse.
