Rodwell Walk was cordoned off this morning as officers from Lancashire Constabulary attempted to arrest a man wanted in connection with an allegation of criminal damage. The incident was reportedly viewed by dozens of people driving along the main A587 leading out of the seaside town.
Paramedics and firefighters were also spotted at the scene along with officers in riot gear. Police have tonight confirmed that a man has been arrested.One person posted on social media: "Anyone know what's happening on Rodwell Walk? There are eight police vans there and now they have cordoned off the road." Another added: "Anyone know what's happened on Rodwell Walk? Loads of police.
A spokesman for Lancashire Police told LancsLive: "[The] incident concluded at approximately 2pm. A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage and is currently in custody."
