The security guard at the Buffalo supermarket was killed in the mass shooting, despite his being armed.
Anyone who thinks arming school personnel is the answer to school shootings should consider Aaron Salter Jr. Salter was a retired Buffalo police officer working as an armed security guard at Tops Supermarket in Buffalo when the murderer entered and began shooting store patrons.
Salter drew his weapon and fired several rounds at the killer, but they were blocked the killer’s body armor. Despite his firearm training as a former police officer, Salter’s blue security guard uniform and handgun were no match for the intruder’s bullet-proof armor and AR-15 rifle.Thomas Tay, Susquehanna Twp., Pa.
