Ariana Grande has taken to TikTok to share a moving response to speculation about her changing body and the body shaming she has received from fans.
with a message for those who had been commenting on her body recently, the 29-year-old admitted she didn’t like addressing the speculation as she wasn’t ‘good at it’.
However, she was keen to urge her fans to be ‘gentler and less comfortable commenting on people’s bodies, no matter what’. Talking directly to camera as she held her coffee and wore a crossbody bag and hoodie, ready to leave for work, the Thank U, Next singer began: ‘I don’t do this often, I don’t like it, I’m not good at it, but I just wanted to address your concerns about my body and talk a little bit about what it means to be a person with a body and to be seen and to be paid such close attention to.’
She continued: ‘I think we could be – I think we should be – gentler and less comfortable commenting on people’s bodies, no matter what. If you think you’re saying something good or well-intentioned, whatever it is – healthy, unhealthy, big, small, this, that, sexy, not sexy – we just shouldn’t.’
