The singer reposted the music video, which was originally shared by a fan account, on her Instagram Story, and"The Way" was released as part of Grande's albumin 2013. She and Miller also collaborated on various other musical projects over the years, including in his 2016 track "My Favorite Part," and in a rendition of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" in 2012.
The two dated from 2016 to 2018. Sadly, the rapper died of an accidental drug overdose later that year, on September 7, 2018. Grand publicly mourned her ex and sang about him in various tracks, including "Thank U, Next" and "Ghostin" from her"I adored you from the day i met you when i was nineteen and i always will. i can’t believe you aren’t here anymore. i really can’t wrap my head around it. we talked about this. so many times. i’m so mad, i’m so sad i don’t know what to do. you were my dearest friend. for so long. above anything else. i’m so sorry i couldn’t fix or take your pain away.
