So he dealt Williams on Monday, a day before the NFL trade deadline,The Giants are 2-6 and have lost five of their past six games. Williams, a pending free agent, surely wasn’t going to be with them past this season. The logic behind the trade was sound.
Before Wednesday’s practice, Daboll detailed to reporters how the Williams trade went down: The Seahawks called Schoen, who then told Daboll about the trade proposal. Schoen sat down with Williams to discuss the impending trade. And then the trade happened. “I understand that question,” Daboll said. “I just told them what went down, why it happened. Joe wasn’t actively shopping anyone. Obviously, he fields calls as the general manager.”
