Teenage girls are more sensitive to the anxiety of other girls, finds study
], this exploratory study aimed to assess the relationship between a student’s level of state anxiety and their classmates’ level of trait anxiety. This study also explored whether this association is moderated by the sex of the student, sex of the classmates, or age. As this study was exploratory in nature, no hypotheses were formulated.
The original sample consisted of 1404 students from seven French-speaking elementary schools and six French-speaking high schools in the Montreal area . These schools serve students from various socioeconomic backgrounds. Only students who participated in both measurement times were included in the present analysis in order to compare a student’s level of state anxiety when surrounded by different classmates . Based on these criteria, 200 students were removed from the analyses.
