Nature research paper: Antibody feedback regulates immune memory after SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccination

. Subsequent work showed that, depending on the context, antibodies can enhance or inhibit immune responses. However, little is known about how pre-existing antibodies influence the development of memory B cells. Here we examined the memory B cell response in individuals who received two high-affinity anti-SARS-CoV-2 monoclonal antibodies, and subsequently two doses of an mRNA vaccine.

In contrast, their memory B cells differed from controls in that they predominantly expressed low-affinity IgM antibodies that carried small numbers of somatic mutations and showed altered RBD target specificity consistent with epitope masking. Moreover, only 1 out of 77 anti-RBD memory antibodies tested neutralized the virus.

Low neutralization of SARS-CoV-2 Omicron BA.2.75.2, BQ.1.1, and XBB.1 by parental mRNA vaccine or a BA.5-bivalent booster - Nature MedicineCirculating variants of SARSCoV2 continue to evade neutralization by COVID19 vaccines, including bivalent boosters that target the Omicron BA.4/BA.5 variants of concern, suggesting that strategies to get ahead of the virus’ evolution might be warranted

The lifetime of the deviations from bulk behaviour in polymers confined at the nanoscale - Nature CommunicationsThe lifetime of the deviations from bulk behaviour in polymers confined at the nanoscale - Nature CommunicationsMonitoring the impact of annealing on nanometre-thick polymer layers provides new insight into the changes in the performance of macromolecular materials. Here, the authors present results showing a correlation between the deviations from bulk behaviour and the growth of an irreversibly adsorbed layer.
