Ange Postecoglou has had a smashing start to his Tottenham career but he has cooled expectations on trophies
Ange Postecoglou has turned back time to his experiences in his first year at Celtic to calm any expectations of success at Tottenham Hotspur.
Of course, the rest is history. The Hoops didn't lose again all season, winning 26 of their 32 remaining clashes in the Scottish Premiership to upsurge their bitter rivals and take the title back after just one season - and that set Postecoglou on a path of domination which led to five trophies from a possible six.
But the Australian gaffer has quashed any expectations and burdens placed upon his side - and he referenced his time early on at Celtic as a reason why fans shouldn't get so carried away. The former Hoops boss began: "I didn’t come here to not be successful. This club has all the fundamentals to be successful. The expectations should be there.
"What drives me is trying to build something that will realise the ambitions that this club has at this particular moment. People’s perceptions don’t concern me too much. This is a big club and should be in a position to challenge for trophies every season in my opinion.
