News that Andrew Marr is leaving the BBC does not come as much of a surprise given that six months ago he intimated that he was finding it increasingly frustrating sticking to the Corporation’s credo of impartiality: “I think it will be very, very difficult for people like me to carry on being completely neutral and completely sotto voce… at some point I want to get out and use my own voice again,” he said at the Glasgow Literary Festival.
