EXCLUSIVE: The Scottish and UK Labour leaders have spoken about the response to the crisis in the Middle East.
Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar was “unhappy” with Keir Starmer’s comments on Gaza in the wake of the Hamas terror attacks.
Critics are worried the Israeli Government’s military response will escalate the conflict and lead to thousands more civilians losing their lives. Asked about Israel withholding power and water from the warzone, Starmer said: “I think Israel does have that right. It is an ongoing situation”.The party insider said Sarwar was “unhappy” with the “language” used by Starmer .
He said: “Anas Sarwar has repeatedly and unequivocally condemned the actions of Hamas. There is no justification for the loss of innocent life and the targeting of civilians.
