Private jets will be banned from Schiphol Airport of the Netherlands, one of the busiest airports in the world.
“Schiphol connects the Netherlands with the rest of the world,” stated Royal Schiphol Group CEO Ruud Sondag.
“We want to keep doing that, but we have to do that in a better way. The only way forward is to become quieter and cleaner faster. For too long, we have only thought about growth and too little about its toll. We need to be sustainable for our employees, the environment, and the world.
“Schiphol rejects an additional runway,” said the airport’s owner, adding that it has now asked the central government to “cancel the reservation.” Land reserved for this runway near Rozenburg, Rijsenhout, and Schiphol-Rijk should be reclassified because the airport expansion plan had put “unnecessary pressure on the scarce space in the area,” said Royal Schiphol.
